Illustrating misplaced modifiers.
Have students draw pictures that show the literal meaning of sentences
with misplaced modifiers. It would be good for them to write the sentences
on their papers, underlining the words (usually the subjects) that are
being described. On half of their pages, or on separate sheets, they might
revise their sentences, again providing illustrations and noting the
modified words.
