Using pictures as a springboard for writing.
A picture can often stimulate the mind when there seems to be nothing to
write about. Pictures of more than one person in an interesting setting
can provide an idea for a dialogue. Nature pictures can help to ensure
that a haiku poem is about a single moment. They can also provide concrete
images for description. (Many calendars contain pictures that are ideal
for haiku poetry.)
Rewriting a portion of a story.
Make a new version of a story by relating an incident from a different
character's perspective or by presenting the incident in the form of a
play.
